I'm just getting around to posting photos from this amazing dessert table that I did for an amazing person's 90th birthday. It really turned out great and everyone seemed to enjoy the goodies!
I had a few major design elements to work on for this one, I redesigned the way I am doing my backgrounds, which should make them a little easier to move around from now on. They are 8 feet long and can get really heavy! I also designed the reusable cupcake stand to be adjustable and I able to decorate it with custom colors to match the event. My husband and I were getting the kinks out of that right up until the last minute!
There are four different flavor combinations of cupcakes...and each flavor is identifiable by the "suit". I piped the diamonds, hearts, spades and clubs out of royal icing. I was concerned with the taste of those, because very red and very black frosting usually does not taste the best, but I tweaked my royal icing recipe, and these were actually good.
The cake pops were done in matching colors, of course! Birthday Cake, Red Velvet, Pumpkin, and Snickerdoodle.
I had lots of matching candy on this table as well. There was red and black licorice, red and black gum balls, candy coated peanuts (Boston Baked Beans), wrapped cinnamon hard candy, mints, red raspberries and blackberries, and red Peanut M&M's. I ate a lot of those raspberries while I was working on this table! There are some great websites out there that list candy by color when you are trying to do a table like this.
I also made chocolate dipped pretzel sticks in two different colors.
These truffles are Oreo Cookie flavored. Looking so nice in their little rows!
Thank you to everyone for all of your compliments at the party! The party was a big success and hopefully I'll get to do a 100th birthday in ten years!
